Fannie Lou Hamer (1917–1977)

A voting and women's rights activist, community organizer, and a leader in the civil rights movement. Her national fame rests on her efforts to integrate the Mississippi delegation into the Democratic National Convention of 1964, unsuccessfully then, but successfully four years later.
