John Lewis (1940-2020)

John Lewis was an American statesman, civil-rights leader, and crusader for voting rights, who served in the United States House of Representatives from Georgia, from 1987 until his death in 2020. Lewis organized sit-ins at segregated lunch counters, and was one of the 13 original Freedom Riders.
