Ida Bell Wells-Barnett (1862 – 1931)

She was an investigative journalist, educator, women’s rights advocate, and an early leader in the civil rights movement. In the 1890s, Wells documented illegal hangings in the United States through her indictment called "Southern Horrors: Lynch Law in all its Phases," and she was major force in the suffragette movement, despite prejudice against her.
